While I am reeling under the brilliance that is Salman Rushdie (Midnight's Children), I have started reading TSV. As the book is (still) banned in India, it was tucked deep inside the suitcase of a person travelling from Amsterdam.
(When I mentioned to someone else that she is bringing something that is legal in Netherlands, but not in India, I didn't bother to clarify what I meant. Getit?? Huh?)
Given that the book caused riots outside the British council in Mumbai and the death of 12 people in 1988, I have it wrapped in brown cover while carrying it around.
A quick observation on the (probably) the greatest writer from the Indian subcontinent - Rushdie had "daddy issues"! Join the club! (Hmm, so that shouldn't stop a person from achieving brilliance.)
I am sure a person reading his books with keen interest can improve his/her English language. Again, why aren't this son-of-the-soil's books a part of our school syllabus? What a loss!

TSV is without doubt, his best book... rather, the best I have ever read. Pure brilliance. Do finish reading it...
